1. Prepare the Surface

   • Clean the floor area where you want to draw.

   • Sprinkle a little water to keep the design intact (optional).

2. Decide the Base Shape

   • Use chalk or white powder to draw guiding dots or a basic outline (circle, square, star, or freehand).

   • Beginners often start with dot rangoli (placing dots in rows and connecting them into shapes).

3. Create the Outline

   • Connect the dots or freehand draw curves, spirals, triangles, flowers, or geometric shapes.

   • Symmetry is important most rangolis are circular and balanced.

4. Add Patterns

   • Inside the outline, draw small motifs like:

     • Flowers 

     • Leaves 

     • Diyas

     • Stars 

     • Swirls 

5. Fill with Colors

   • Use rangoli powder, colored sand, rice flour, or flower petals.

   • Start from the center and move outward to avoid smudging.

   • Use contrasting colors for borders and highlights.

6. Decorate

• Place diyas (oil lamps), candles, or flowers around the rangoli.

• Add dots, small borders, or glitter for finishing touches.

Easy Rangoli(Rangoli Design-27)

1. Preparation: Clean and Level your chosen area (e.g., doorway or corner) and gather your materials: white chalk, colored powders, and a small sieve or funnel (optional).

2. Define the Center: Lightly draw a small chalk circle or mark a single central point. This will be the heart of your design.

3. Start the Base Swirl: Take a pinch of your first color (e.g., yellow). Holding your fingers very close to the ground, gently let the powder fall as you move your hand in a tight spiral motion, starting from the center and moving outwards.

4. Add the Second Layer: Switch to your second color (e.g., orange). Start immediately outside the first color's edge and create a second, larger concentric circle or spiral around the first one.

5. Create the Petal Border: Use your third color (e.g., pink or red). Instead of a full circle, use the powder to create simple petal or leaf shapes that radiate outwards from the main swirl. Tip

6. Outline and Define: Use a white powder (rice flour or chalk powder) to draw a neat, wavy or scalloped border around the entire design. This border provides contrast and finishes the shape.

7. Final Embellishment: Place a lit Diya (oil lamp) or a few fresh flower petals (like marigolds or roses) in the center circle to complete the Rangoli and add a festive glow.

Deepam kolam (Rangoli design-45)

Step 1: Prepare the Surface
